Some Norse warriors started raiding and pillaging places in Britain, Ireland and France and became known as Vikings. The word Vikings is based on the word Vikingr which in Old Norse meant "sea-rover" or "pirate". (Old Norse was the language of the Vikings and is similar to the language spoken in Iceland today) |
