The Anglo-Saxons settled in places all over Oxfordshire. This map shows some of the places in Oxfordshire where Anglo-Saxon cemeteries and settlements have been found. (Click on the map to see a larger version) Many of these sites were excavated by Edward Thurlow Leeds. He found cemeteries at Frilford, Abingdon, Chadlington, North Leigh and Cassington. He discovered a settlement at Sutton Courtenay and he excavated a single burial in a mount at Asthall Barrow.
